I can’t believe we still have 10 more courses to go!

We’re only half way through our 20-course “counter menu” at The Restaurant at Meadowood and my eyes are starting to roll around in my head. Lobster with avocado and caviar . . . duck with persimmon and maple . . . abalone with roasted eggplant and smoked pepper.  I sure hope there’s room for dessert. Michael Bauer calls him an artist, and Chef Christoper Kostow’s food lives up to the billing. *NOTE: Sadly The Restaurant at Meadowood is still under reconstruction following the devastating Glass Fire, but we can hardly wait for its return!

It was a toss up between here and The French Laundry. However, since we’re having lunch at Bouchon Sunday, we thought we’d spread the wealth – as they say. Which is exactly what’s required to eat in a restaurant with three Michelin stars: serious coin. Still, it was definitely worth the splurge — one of the top California experiences.

A luxurious night’s sleep

I may have had the best night’s sleep ever in our suite at Auberge du Soliel. I want whoever designed this room to come furnish my house. It’s all terracotta and ocher, with limestone floors, a big sculpted bathtub, and French doors that open onto a private terrace with views of the Valley. This place is the pinnacle of luxury in Napa.

Private fitness session, spa treatments, helicopters and luxurious lunches

The next morning, after a private fitness session, we sink into our 2-hour spa treatment aptly called the “Auberge Antidote.” If this is the antidote, I want more of whatever has been ailing me. Relaxed and ready to go, we head to the acclaimed Mustard’s Grill, yet another Michelin starred spot for a long luxurious lunch.

Our last day in Napa will have us in a private helicopter, swooping over Napa Valley. Maybe we can drop down and pay a visit to Harlan or Araujo.

Have to wait and see what kind of magic our wine country concierge Booker & Butler can conjure up.

They really nailed it with our Napa luxury vacation!
